2010 QTIC Trainers Conference

Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) will be hosting its annual conference for teachers and trainers of tourism and hospitality on Monday 11th October 2010 at the Holiday Inn, Roma Street, Brisbane.

Our aim is to provide an opportunity for teachers and trainers to update their industry knowledge and skills through a series of workshops and information sessions.  This is a great opportunity to network with a range of training providers and industry.  There is great prizes to be won including a basket of IT goodies sponsored by Voc Ed Learning Group and an accommodation voucher including breakfast sponsored by Holiday Inn, Brisbane.

This year we have QTIC member prices (this is NOT for QTIC Skill Link members) please contact Kym Stephenson or Sharon Galloway for QTIC membership. Early bird closes on 27th August 2010 and must be paid by the 30th August 2010. As numbers are limited in some workshop registration is on a first in first paid
bases.

INDUSTRY STUDY TOURS
QTIC will be holding full day industry study tours on the 12th October 2010 for Tourism, Hospitality and Cookery. We are currently finalising the tours and will send the details out soon.  You can register your interest by clicking the study tour button on the QTIC trainers registration form (page 2). Prices range from $190.00 to $230.00 per person.

2009 Striving for Excellence Conference

QTIC Skills Link staged the fourth Queensland Striving for Excellence Conference at the Bardon Conference Centre Monday 12th October. The conference is designed to update skills and knowledge of industry trainers through a series of workshops and information sessions. 

Delegates from Queensland registered training organisations, state and non-state secondary schools attended the full day conference with an optional hospitality or Tourism study tour the following day.

The feedback from the delegates was overwhelming with a positive response to attending next year, some comments included:

  • Thank you for organising such a great event. I came home ready to make a few changes to the way I do things in my planning and classroom teaching. This is always a sign that I have got good things out of a conference!!!!
  • The hands on bar session was so much fun and very instructive
  • Discussing the new trends in Cooking was very useful
  • I received allot of relevant contacts through the breakout sessions!
  • The cultural workshop was fantastic!
  • I took allot of notes during the training/educational sessions they were very informative
