Productivity Places Program (PPP)
QTIC has been successful in securing an additional $6 million in funding under the Productivity Places Program!
The Productivity Places Program (PPP) is part of the Australian Government’s Skilling Australia for the Future initiative in partnership with State and Territory governments. PPP aims to boost workforce participation and productivity by offering additional training places for jobseekers and existing workers. The program will be industry-led in targeting areas of skills shortages across the Australian economy, with a focus on higher-level training places.
The Queensland Department of Education and Training (DET) has contracted the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) as an industry broker for PPP training places in the tourism and hospitality industries. QTIC will be responsible for purchasing approximately over 1400 additional qualifications from the PPP (existing worker) priority list to meet identified industry needs. We will work with key industry stakeholders to identify priorities and then work with employers and training providers to respond to those priorities.
The qualifications targeted will be at the Certificate IV and Diploma level. Certificate IV Tourism (targeting but not limited to tour guiding, tourism operator, tour wholesaling/retail)Certificate IV Hospitality (targeting but not limited to cookery, hospitality operations, gaming or front of house)Diploma of Tourism (targeting but not limited to tourism operations/management)Diploma of Hospitality (targeting but not limited to hospitality operations/management)Diploma of Management (targeting but not limited to business managers or operators within tourism and hospitality) Employers will be required to contribute 20% of the cost of training.
