The 8th Annual QTIC Tourism Indigenous Employment Forum will be held at the Gold Coast on Yugambeh country. Delegates will have the opportunity to take part in unique Indigenous experiences at the Gold Coast, where you can learn about the local Yugambeh culture, walk around the Dreaming Mountain guided by a local Yugambeh person, interact with wildlife and experience an evening of powerful storytelling where you will journey back to the 1800’s at some of Gold Coasts most memorable experiences. The following experiences are available and it is a great opportunity to learn about the local Indigenous culture. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary A half day visit to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to take part in the newly created Indigenous Education Program and daily Aboriginal Culture & Dance Show. • Indigenous Education session is 45 minutes and delivers a hands-on immersive experience covering all aspects of the local Yugambeh culture. • The afternoon Aboriginal Culture Show is a 15-minute show presented by the Jellurgal Culture Centre. • Participants will have the opportunity to take in some of the 14 daily wildlife shows, set on the Sanctuary’s naturally beautiful grounds. Time: 12:30pm Duration: 4hrs Cost per adult: $25 Dreamworld Corroboree Girrebba - Take part in a 2-hour cultural awareness activity. Time: 10am Duration: 2hrs Cost: $65 Corroboree Tours- Become a Dreamworld Corroboree Warrior and learn about topics such as traditional music, ochre, tribal weapons (boomerangs, spears) and making fire. Time: 10am Duration: 40mins Cost: $45 Wildlife Talks - Close encounter with a Lumholt’z Tree Kangaroo. Interact with the keeper and assist with the husbandry – feeding and changing lead. Time: 10am Duration: 20mins Cost: $49 Great Australian Experiences Welcome to Country Aboriginal Experience - On arrival, meet with an Elder and enter a visual/interactive Dreamtime experience. Wonder through an Aboriginal village and learn about traditional clothing, how to start a fire and the Aboriginal culture. It is encouraged that everyone gets involved and ask questions if you have any. Time: 3:30pm Duration: 1hr Cost: $20 Spirits of the Red Sand Aboriginal Live Theatre Show & Dinner Experience – Experience an evening of powerful storytelling, unique Aboriginal rituals & a hearty Australian Char-grilled feast. Journey back in time to the 1800's, walking through various interactive scenes. Time: 6pm Duration: 2.5hrs Cost: $65 Transfers: Transfers included - picking up from Novotel Surfers Paradise Jellurgal Cultural Centre Jellurgal Journey starts at the Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre at 9.30am and includes a live Aboriginal dance performance and an audio-visual presentation in the dreaming amphitheatre. Participants are then guided to Burleigh Cove to begin their trek around the Dreaming Mountain, Jellurgal, with an ochre anointment. This important ancient ceremony is conducted by local Yugambeh person who will bless you with a safe journey. During the trek around the mountain, participants will discover traditional sites used by the Yugambeh people, including an ancient midden and carving stone. Aspects of traditional life, including the sharing of one of the Gold Coast's oldest Dreamtime Stories, 'The creation of Jellurgal', is a highlight. Time: 9:30am Duration: 2.5hrs Cost: $49
