QTIC Lunch Time Yarns

QTIC Lunch Time Yarns
What do you do when you have a festival and COVID-19 interrupts it?
Introducing our new QTIC Lunch Time Yarns which is a series of short videos with First Nations tourism leaders. In Volume 1 enjoy QTIC Deputy Chair, Cameron Costello, chat to Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) General Manager, Darrell Harris and Artistic Director, Janina Harding.

The Cairns Indigenous Art Fair is a highly anticipated event typically scheduled for July each year, however due to the impacts of COVID-19, plans had to change. During this time, we have all had to think differently and adjust to the changing environments, which is something CIAF have excelled in. Throughout this video, Darrell and Janina talk us through the process CIAF has taken to ensure the event still goes ahead.

In this video, they discussed:
  1. The significance of CIAF and the impact and opportunity on community
  2. What made them think differently with COVID-19?
  3. How this year’s CIAF will be run?
  4. The use of technology and the opportunities available.
  5. CIAF expectations for 2020 in the Year of Indigenous Tourism?
