Tourism industry welcomes Kate Jones as Minister for Commonwealth Games
The Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) has welcomed the announcement of the Commonwealth Games being included to State Minister Kate Jones’ portfolio.
QTIC Chief Executive Daniel Gschwind said Minister Jones had earnt the respect and trust of the State’s tourism industry during her role of Minister for Tourism and Major Events.
“The Commonwealth Games portfolio is a natural fit for Ms Jones alongside her existing work within the tourism and education industries.”
Mr Gschwind said the event would provide a major boost for tourism with 100,000 visitors expect to visit Queensland for the 2018 Games.
“We are looking forward to working with Minister Jones to ensure the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games are maximised across the State and deliver great legacies for Queensland tourism”.
