Georgetown is remote rural hub nestled west of the Newcastle Ranges in the Far North. Mineral rich and steeped in early mining history, the entire shire of Etheridge is a magnet for adventure seekers, bird watchers and rock hounds alike. Our history dates back to the early explorers and gold rushes down through the times to modern mining exploration in gold and onto today's beef cattle industry.  The changing landscape is a testament to the ancient formations that make up the ranges, gorges, river systems and the gold and gemstone fields that attract the fossickers on the hunt for their own treasures.
