JobMaker Hiring Credit
The JobMaker Hiring Credit scheme is an incentive for businesses to employ additional young job seekers aged 16-35 years.
Eligible employers can access the JobMaker Hiring Credit for each additional employee they hire between 7 October 2020 and 6 October 2021. The JobMaker Hiring Credit scheme will end on 6 October 2022. Click here for more information.
Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements
The $1.2 billion Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements wage subsidy will support businesses and Group Training Organisations to take on new apprentices and trainees, to build a pipeline of skilled workers to support sustained economic recovery.
Through the subsidy, any business or Group Training Organisation that engages an Australian Apprentice between 5 October 2020 and 31 March 2022 may be eligible for a subsidy of 50 per cent of wages paid to a new or recommencing apprentice or trainee for a 12-month period from the date of commencement to a maximum of $7,000 per quarter. Local Jobs Program
The Local Jobs Program supports tailored approaches to accelerate reskilling, upskilling and employment in 25 regions across Australia. Recognising that regions have been impacted by COVID-19 in varying ways, the program will provide for:
- 25 Employment Facilitators across 25 regions
- A Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce in each of these regions
- A Local Jobs Plan developed for each of these regions
- Projects funded through a Local Recovery Fund in each of these regions

Queensland Government
Job Trainer Fund
The Australian and Queensland Governments are investing $200 million to deliver additional training places in short courses, certificate and diploma qualifications to Queensland job seekers, school leavers and young people. Fee-free training is available
for a range of short courses and certificates with low-fee training of no more than $400 available for higher level qualifications.
These training places are providing skills needed to find work, re-enter the labour market or explore new work opportunities as Queensland's economy recovers from the impacts of COVID-19. Click here for more information.
Back to Work
The Back to Work program is designed to give businesses the confidence to employ Queenslanders who have experienced a period of unemployment. Support payments are available to eligible employers who hire a previously unemployed Queenslander who has
experienced a minimum period of unemployment directly prior to commencing work with them.
The program is available throughout regional Queensland and in some areas of South East Queensland.
From 1 July 2021, the Back to Work program will provide both financial and non-financial support to Queensland employers and targeted groups who have been previously unemployed for over eight weeks.
Employer Support Payment
Employer Support Payments of up to $15,000 are available to eligible employers who hire an eligible unemployed Queenslander in regional or South East Queensland. Click here for more information.
Certificate 3 Guarantee Plus (C3GPlus)
The Certificate 3 Guarantee Plus (C3GPlus) provides eligible jobseekers with funding for training to help secure local jobs. Training may include "second chance" training for jobseekers or workers who already have a Certificate 3 (or higher) level qualification

VET Investment
The Queensland Government invests in training based on industry advice to provide Queenslanders with the skills they need to gain meaningful and sustainable employment through the pre-approved training provider of their choice.
Government funding is directed to minimise skills shortages, focus on training for jobs that are in demand in our critical industries, and increase the number of Queenslanders with formal post-school qualifications.
Certificate 3 Guarantee
Certificate 3 Guarantee provides a government subsidy to allow eligible Queenslanders to obtain their first post-school certificate III qualification.
Employer incentives and subsidies for apprenticeships and traineeships
Employers of apprentices and trainees may be eligible for financial support to reduce the costs of training and supervision throughout the apprenticeship or traineeship.
Higher-Level Skills
The Higher-Level Skills program provides a government subsidy to help individuals gain the higher-level skills and qualifications required to secure employment or career advancement in a priority industry or to transition to university.
Free apprenticeships for under 25s
Free apprenticeships for under 25s will cover the cost of training for apprentices and trainees who commence, or are undertaking, a priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualification from 1 January 2021 to 30 September 2022.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work
Skilling Queenslanders for Work is a suite of targeted skills and training programs supporting Queenslanders to gain the skills, qualifications and experience needed to enter and stay in the workforce. Employers have the opportunity to support and participate
in local training projects designed to equip job seekers with the skills, qualifications and experience needed to enter and stay in the workforce.
Higher-Level Apprenticeship Pilot
The Higher-Level Apprenticeship Pilot aims to deliver the higher-level skills needed for the emerging fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0.
