Your Tourism Voice: Advocacy drives key funding
It has been an exciting and impactful fortnight for Queensland’s tourism industry, with progress on multiple fronts that strengthen our shared vision for a sustainable, connected and globally competitive sector.
Following strong QTIC advocacy, the Australian Government has announced major funding to reduce emissions. This is an outstanding achievement for tourism operators and regional communities alike. The package includes $40 million for regional EV charging infrastructure and $1.1 billion for low-carbon fuels. These investments mark a significant step forward for sustainable tourism and regional connectivity, supporting the ongoing transition to a cleaner and greener future for Queensland’s visitor economy.
Last month, we had the privilege of hosting our regional Destination IQ conference in beautiful Port Douglas. More than 150 delegates from across the state came together to explore the transformative potential of weaving culture and storytelling into tourism. The event also contributed to QTIC’s Queensland First Nations Tourism Plan 2026 to 2032. This plan sets out an ambitious path to position Queensland as a global leader in First Nations tourism by celebrating culture, empowering communities and creating meaningful economic opportunities.
Looking ahead, we are thrilled to announce that the full program for DestinationQ 2025 is now live. Presented in partnership with the Queensland Government and Tourism and Events Queensland, DestinationQ remains Queensland’s premier tourism conference and will take place on Thursday 13 November at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre as part of Tourism Week 2025.
The refreshed program is designed to strengthen industry connections with government and decision makers, with sessions focused on AI, sustainability, workforce and investment. QTIC members can also enjoy savings of more than 50 percent on tickets.
QTIC continues to be the bridge between industry and government, ensuring that the practical voices of operators are heard, that policies reflect real-world challenges, and that together we shape a vibrant future for Queensland tourism as we move toward Brisbane 2032 and beyond.
Kind regards,
