Tourism in Action: A word from Natassia Wheeler, April 2025

April has been a landmark month for Queensland’s tourism industry, with powerful momentum building across our state.

This week, we proudly welcomed the Australian Tourism Exchange back to Queensland – the Southern Hemisphere’s largest trade event. The atmosphere was electric and the outcomes outstanding. A heartfelt thank you to Tourism Australia, Tourism and Events Queensland, and the Brisbane Economic Development Agency for their commitment and investment in bringing this world-class event to Queensland to showcase our amazing industry operators. Congratulations to all the teams involved #TeamQueensland!

Looking ahead, World Environment Day is fast approaching, and we’re delighted to host this important celebration in the Whitsundays on 5 June thanks to Whitsunday Regional Council. This is your chance to connect, collaborate, and take bold steps toward sustainable tourism. Get your tickets now.

This month also marked the successful launch of our Future Tourism Leaders Mentoring Program – a pivotal investment in the next generation of tourism changemakers.

We were thrilled to bring together a dynamic cohort of emerging leaders and seasoned professionals from across Queensland to kick off this transformative initiative. The launch event was a powerful reminder of the talent, drive and deep commitment that exists within our industry. The room was brimming with optimism and purpose – a clear signal that the future of tourism in Queensland is in capable hands.

Our sincere thanks go to our incredible sponsors for supporting the program, mentors for generously sharing their time, wisdom and leadership, and to our outstanding mentees for stepping into this journey with enthusiasm and ambition. We look forward to witnessing the partnerships, projects and growth that will emerge from this inspiring program.

We’re also excited to announce a new partnership with Bishopp Outdoor Advertising – our 25/26 Out of Home Corporate Partnership. This partnership will see Bishopp support key QTIC initiatives including Top Tourism Towns and the Queensland Tourism Awards.

Kind regards,

Tash Wheeler
