Tourism businesses and operators are the heart of Queensland’s visitor economy. They are the people and companies that deliver the experiences visitors come for, such as accommodation providers, tour guides, attractions, restaurants and event organisers.

Queensland Tourism Industry Council

QTIC is the peak body for tourism in Queensland. We represent and support tourism businesses across the state, big and small. We advocate for the industry, give businesses a voice, and provide training, resources, and programs to help operators grow and succeed.

Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) is the state’s lead destination marketing organisation. Their job is to promote Queensland to the world by showcasing our unique places, experiences and events. TEQ work to attract visitors and boost holiday bookings.

Regional Tourism Organisations

Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs) promote tourism in specific areas of Queensland. They work closely with local tourism businesses to market their region, attract visitors, and support events and experiences.

Local Tourism Organisations

Local Tourism Organisations (LTOs) focus on promoting tourism in towns, cities, and smaller areas within a region. They often run visitor information centres, support local businesses and help tell the stories of their communities.

Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation

The Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) is the Queensland Government department responsible for supporting and guiding the tourism industry at a state level. It helps shape tourism policy, funds programs and infrastructure, and works to grow a stronger tourism industry.
