Tourism and hospitality are people-powered industries. To operate, grow and respond to changing visitor expectations, businesses need access to a job-ready workforce.
The Industry Skills and Jobs Advisor (ISJA) acts are the critical bridge between Queensland employers and the Government.
We engage directly with operators to understand regional pressures, skills needs and emerging trends. We translate these on-the-ground insights into practical, evidence-based advice for the Queensland Government.
Why work with an ISJA
Ensure training priorities reflect how businesses actually operate
Keep qualifications current with changes in technology and sustainability
Improve industry awareness of VET programs and opportunities
Industry Reference Groups
Industry insights are essential to shaping a responsive workforce. Beyond regular stakeholder meetings, the ISJA facilitates three specialised Industry Reference Groups (IRGs). These forums bring together sector representatives to share challenges and inform future training priorities.

Focusing on hotels, food service and culinary occupations

Focusing on visitor economy, entertainment and event delivery

Focusing on guiding, marine tourism and travel management
Turning insight into industry action
What do our ISJAs work on?

Service and Creative Skills Australia (SaCSA) Projects
Service and Creative Skills Australia (SaCSA) is the industry-owned, industry-led Jobs and Skills Council (JSC) for the Arts, Personal Services, Retail, Tourism and Hospitality industries. Funded by the Australian Government, SaCSA works nationally with employers, unions, training providers and governments to identify workforce challenges, shape skills priorities and support a strong, responsive vocational education and training (VET) system.
SaCSA’s projects are informed by evidence and consultation with industry stakeholders and are designed to strengthen workforce planning, improve training products, support career pathways and ensure training is fit for purpose and aligned to industry need.
