Connecting to Culture Toolkit
Strengthen your connection to culture

Build stronger, more meaningful connections with First Nations culture and communities through this practical and easy-to-use industry resource.

Available free to businesses holding Sustainable Tourism Accreditation, the Connecting to Culture Toolkit helps non-First Nations tourism operators better understand how to engage respectfully and authentically with First Nations people, businesses and communities. Through a series of simple questions, the toolkit provides insight into where your business is currently positioned and highlights opportunities to strengthen cultural awareness, partnerships and visitor experiences.

There’s no pass or fail. Instead, you’ll receive tailored guidance and trusted resources developed by First Nations-led organisations, helping your business approach cultural engagement with greater confidence, respect and understanding.

As more visitors actively seek authentic cultural experiences and deeper connections when they travel, the toolkit also helps your business identify opportunities to create more meaningful and inclusive tourism offerings while building long-term relationships with First Nations communities.

What you'll get from the program

Your stamp of recognition!

Businesses that complete the toolkit receive access to the Connecting to Culture Toolkit badge to display across their website and marketing channels.

Much more than a logo, the badge helps visitors and industry recognise your business’s commitment to respectful cultural engagement, meaningful community connections and more inclusive tourism experiences.
