The Gateway to Industry Schools – Tourism and Hospitality Program is funded by the Queensland Government and delivered by QTIC. Through strong partnerships with education and industry, the program provides meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that connect classrooms with real-world industry.
Students gain practical insight into careers in commercial cookery, hospitality, events, and tourism through industry-aligned school, vocational, and academic pathways, supported by training, professional development, work experience, and direct industry connections.
Across Queensland, students participate in immersive workshops and industry-led experiences, while teachers engage in Gateway Days featuring expert insights, networking, and current industry knowledge.

The Young Tourism Leaders Program connects young people with inspiring tourism professionals, showcasing diverse career pathways, building confidence and encouraging the next generation to pursue meaningful careers in Queensland tourism.
The program builds partnerships between schools and industry to enable young people to acquire the knowledge, skills and attributes to succeed professionally. The program also creates exciting opportunities for industry and educators to work together to deliver outcomes for students and local businesses.
The Gateway to Industry Schools – Tourism and Hospitality program is excited to introduce a micro-credentialing initiative for teachers and students. This program offers students industry-focused learning and training, allowing member schools to apply for free training modules that complement VET tourism and hospitality programs taught in the classroom.
All teachers and students will receive acknowledgement for completing each micro credentialing module via a digital bade and/or completion certificate which can be added to CV’s or LinkedIn profiles. Giving them extra experience and knowledge and the ability to stand out from their peers.
