Richmond
Imagine being in a place so diverse, so vast, you feel an indescribable sense of freedom. From the plains of the downs country to the silvery shimmer of the sun shining on the gidgee trees in the forest country, Richmond is often referred to as an oasis in the Outback. This small town with a population of around 650, sits on the banks of the Flinders River in the Gulf Country. Situated half way between Townsville and Mt Isa, Richmond's lovely backdrop of bougainvilleas, native trees and shrubs, along with the town’s literal step backwards into the Cretaceous Period, will make this the perfect adventure before travelling on.
