Previous mentees have praised the program for its effectiveness in developing their career direction and progression, guidance and insight into their industry and personal growth.
"The industry knowledge and experience my mentor has shared with me to date has been extremely valuable. The program encourages open and honest conversation, self-reflection and facilitates meaningful discussion on the topic of career progression. The advice I’ve received from my mentor is invaluable at this stage of my career. I would recommend the program to any young tourism professional seeking guidance on career development, opportunities for industry networking, or professional development. The team at QTIC do a wonderful job of matching mentees and mentors, and I believe the program provides an excellent foundation for like-minded industry professionals to form long-standing, working relationships. " Lisa Cameron, Event Planner, The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA)
The QTIC Young Professionals Mentoring Program draws upon a wide selection of senior industry professionals across all industry sectors and parts of Queensland. Each mentee is matched individually with a mentor based on a range of factors such as location, industry sector and skill set.
We are seeking to connect with senior industry professionals who are interested in fostering the development of our industry’s young professionals:
" I have found the program enormously rewarding. 2020 offered an opportunity to engage in the career / educational experience of my mentees - to exchange my learnings and seek to enhance their forward aspirations. This program is entirely unique and much needed resource." Andrew Cameron Smith, Wonderment Pty Ltd
“Being able to contribute in some way to a young tourism professional’s career is where I find a lot of satisfaction throughout this program. QTIC have selected mentees and mentors meticulously well and paired each other up strategically and sensibly. Getting to know an eager and energetic member of this industry we are in is very refreshing. Having the opportunity to provide some advice and learnings along the way to help them is where the real value surfaces.” James Connolly, Industry Partnerships Manager, Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW).
“I have loved working as a Mentor for the Young Professionals Mentoring Program as not only do I feel I can assist, grow and inspire our future industry professionals, but personally I was able to feel excited going over the criteria about what a wonderful industry we work in, and thriving off the enthusiasm of the youth and their optimism for the future, made me feel re-energised!”. Glenda Daly, Cobbold Gorge Tours
