Previous mentees have praised the program for its effectiveness in developing their career direction and progression, guidance and insight into their industry and personal growth.
“The opportunity to network and be in contact with leaders in the tourism industry is fantastic. The program provides a great foot in the door for young professionals into the tourism world. It also helped to confirm that I’m on the right path for my career development.” Laura McGrath, Southern Queensland Country Tourism
“Establishing a professional relationship with a key industry leader has been invaluable in helping me understand the industry, reaffirm my dedication and career path to tourism in Queensland and the best ways for me to professionally grow and continuously improve.” Aleesha Ware, EarthCheck.
The QTIC Young Professionals Mentoring Program draws upon a wide selection of senior industry professionals across all industry sectors and parts of Queensland. Each mentee is matched individually with a mentor based on a range of factors such as location,
industry sector and skill set.
We are seeking to connect with senior industry professionals who are interested in fostering the development of our industry’s young professionals:
“I’m contributing to the development and increased learning of a blossoming young, motivated professional and seeing the calibre of potential candidates for our business in the future”. Amery Burleigh, General Manager, Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach.
“Being able to contribute in some way to a young tourism professional’s career is where I find a lot of satisfaction throughout this program. QTIC have selected mentees and mentors meticulously well and paired each other up strategically and sensibly. Getting to know an eager and energetic member of this industry we are in is very refreshing. Having the opportunity to provide some advice and learnings along the way to help them is where the real value surfaces.” James Connolly, Industry Partnerships Manager, Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW).
“I have loved working as a Mentor for the Young Professionals Mentoring Program as not only do I feel I can assist, grow and inspire our future industry professionals, but personally I was able to feel excited going over the criteria about what a wonderful industry we work in, and thriving off the enthusiasm of the youth and their optimism for the future, made me feel re-energised!”. Glenda Daly, Cobbold Gorge Tours
